An innocent mother of three was gunned down as she went to buy entjies at a shop.
Sabrina Isaacs, 38, had been visiting her mom in Cafda when she was shot nine times.
A witness says Sabrina was standing with a male when men in a minibus opened fire on him.
“The boy was admiring her head flashlight, then suddenly two men came and started shooting at the boy. Three other people were hit,” he says.
“Sabrina was also shot, she fell, the boy ran into the nearest house, at that time Sabrina tried to enter the house but the boy had shut the gate and she had no access to the yard.
“She died trying to hide because when those gangsters got close to her, they emptied their cartridges on her. The shooters then left the scene on foot and got into a Toyota Quantum.”
Sister Bridget says Sabrina’s death comes five years after her brother was murdered in a similar way.
She tells the Daily Voice Sabrina, who lives in Steurhof, Diep River, had been home for only 30 minutes and quickly went to the shop.
“She didn’t live with our mom but she would come and visit her and on Sunday night, my mom asked her to go and buy cigarettes but she never returned home,” says Bridget.
“This is upsetting to us because this is not the first time we experience such heartache. In 2016 we buried our brother who was also an innocent person killed, he was only 18 years old.
“When will this end? I wish that the government can open their brains and realise that people who are not involved in gangsterism are being killed.”
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk says cases of murder, attempted murder and malicious damage to property were opened.
“The 38-year-old female was declared deceased at the hospital and three victims are still alive,” he says.
“It is alleged that a white vehicle came around the corner and the occupants of the vehicle started shooting at the victims.
“A vehicle that was parked on the pavement was damaged due to the shooting.
“The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.”
