Charges of negligence have been filed against the mother of a three-year-old Lotus River girl who was sexually assaulted, allegedly by two males known to her, in October.
The child’s 65-year-old grandmother from Chatsworth, who brought the sexual assault to light says her son filed charges last week against the mother.
The little girl was allegedly attacked by a 12-year-old boy who lives in her home, and a 28-year-old man who also lives in their backyard.
“Since the child was placed back at home, her mother has been
torturing her by not allowing us to see her now for three months,” says the ouma.
“The child is constantly crying and screaming for us.
“This child’s mother called to tell us this but still refuses us to see her even though there is no court order or anything.”
The devastated father says he filed the negligence charge because he is trying to protect his child.
He says the mother is in denial even though doctors confirmed the girl was sexually assaulted.

“She is trying to deny what happened, now she is keeping my child away from me even though we have evidence. I am just
acting in the interest of my child,” the angry father says.
Police have previously confirmed a case of sexual assault against two suspects was being investigated but no arrests were made.
On Tuesday police spokesperson, Siyabulelo Malo, confirmed another case was opened last week pertaining to the same matter but would not say for what.
“This office cannot divulge more details on the incident as that would hinder the investigation. The circumstances surrounding this matter are being investigated. No arrests have been made at this stage,” Malo said.
