Mayor Patricia De Lille het mense se bors warm gemaak when she suddenly cancelled a planned walkabout on the Cape Flats yesterday.
De Lille, who is oppie campaign trail as the Democratic Alliance mayoral candidate for Cape Town, was supposed to meet and greet voters in Gugulethu, Surrey Estate and Bridgetown, but didn’t come to the party.
She cancelled at the last moment due to unforeseen emergency, according to her office.
No notice was issued, and the Daily Voice was only told of this change of plans when we inquired when the mayor was supposed to stiek uit.
Asked why the mayor failed to inform the media of her cancelled walk-about, DA media manager for the City of Cape Town, Cameron Arendse, said: “There is no other reason besides an urgent issue coming up that Patricia had to attend to, just as we were about to start. “We apologise for the major inconvenience that this has caused.”
But ANC spokesperson Yonela Diko claims Patty was up to her old tricks.
“This is a regular thing with her. She is always promising the poor she will be there and stand for them and is unable to deliver, every time. I am not even surprised. This is how the DA treats our poor,” says Diko.
