An unidentified man was sliced in half on Monday evening when he was hit by a train at Brackenfell station.
Just after 6pm, there was pandemonium at the train station and mense wanting to get home were delayed by over two hours after the incident.
The remains of the man were strewn across the railway tracks, his upper body was lying on the tracks while his lower half lay between the platform and train tracks.
His backpack and a red water bottle could also be seen near his lower half.
Witnesses say the man missed the train and ran to catch it when he apparently fell.

It is believed the deceased is from Mbekweni outside Paarl.
“The train was already moving and he ran to catch it. The people started shouting at the conductor to stop the train,” says a commuter.
“It looks like he fell and landed under the train. He was cut in two, it was a gruesome sight.”
Metrorail spokesperson, Riana Scott, says: “The incident happened at 6.22pm. The line was cleared for safe operation at 8.57pm.”
Police spokesperson, Mihlali Majikela said an inquest docket has been opened for investigation.
