Delft police are investigating a murder and attempted murder after two men were shot in Delft on Monday afternoon.
According to residents, the men were chased by armed men from the corner of Magalies and Leeu Street in N2 Gateway before they were gunned down in Moroto Street, just over 200 metres away at 5.40pm.
A male Delft resident said: “I do not know if they tried to rob those guys but they tried to fight them and they ran away from the guys. I cannot say how many guys chased them because they had guns so we ran inside, bang that they might start shooting.”
The resident said that the men tried to escape by running down Moroto Street but were gunned down near the end of the road which leads into Bagzane Street.
A female resident of Moroto Street said she heard multiple shots going off and when she came out, she saw the two bodies lying in the road.
“When I came outside there were a few people standing by the body and people said that they saw some men running away in Bagzane,” she said.
None of the residents knew the victims nor where they stayed.
