A 57-year-old man is expected to appear in court on Monday for allegedly raping a one-year-old girl in Mitchells Plain.
The man was arrested on Friday, after the alarm was raised at the toddler’s home in Woodlands on Thursday evening.
Frantic neighbours had gathered outside the family’s home, calling for the alleged rapist to be arrested.
It is unclear whether the man is related to the toddler.
It is understood the attack took place while the child was in the care of her nanny.
On Friday, police confirmed two people had been taken in for questioning, before a 57-year-old man was arrested.

The baby’s 19-year-old mother said she had been doing char work and left the child in the care of her ouma.
It is understood that another person was with the baby and brought the child to the granny claiming the baby had fallen.
The family then found blood in the baby’s nappy.
The baby was placed in the care of social workers.
