A Table View resident is concerned for the well-being of her 78-year-old mother who has been missing since 15 October.
Sekiwe Mbande, 46, said her mother Nobandla suffers from dementia and has not been seen since leaving the yard of their home.
“My mother cannot look after herself so she has a permanent caregiver that was with her the day she went missing,” she explains.
“I was also at home but I was working in the room while they were in the lounge.
“At about 11am, the caregiver said my mother was relaxing in the yard but when I went to look outside, I saw she was gone.
“What was strange to me is that my mother could not open the latch on the back door before but somehow she got it open and then still managed to close it behind her.
“Normally she is like a two-year-old that just reaches for stuff but cannot really use it properly.
“Since then we have been looking for her but nobody here has seen or heard of her and I am very worried because she needs constant care and there is medication she has not been taking now for more than a month.”
She says they checked the security footage of neighbours but there is no trace of her elderly mother.
“We are looking for her every chance we get and I just hope that we get some good news soon.”
