Andre Naude, the right-hand man of alleged underworld kingpin Mark Lifman was arrested on Thursday and charged with kidnapping, blackmailing, extortion, assault and intimidation.

Naude and another suspect were nabbed after cops swooped on their homes in Plattekloof and Parklands, respectively.

It is alleged the two allegedly tried to extort a Blaauwberg business.

Lifman and Naude previously owned Specialised Protection Services, a firm which provided security at the majority of nightclub venues in the Western Cape.

This illegal operation was busted in 2015 but Lifman and Naude were later cleared of charges.

Naude is now believed to be working with alleged Sexy Boys gang boss, Jerome “Donkie” Booysen, who is said to be locked in a power struggle with his brother Colin Booysen and controversial businessman Nafiz Modack over the lucrative nightclub security industry.

The second suspect is apparently a private investigator who works for both Lifman and Naude.

Police also launched a search and seizure opeartion at the two houses, where items including firearms and ammunition were confiscated.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut confirms: “Two suspects, both aged 49, were arrested by SAPS at their respective residences in Plattekloof and Parklands last night (Thursday) on charges of intimidation, assault GBH, extortion, kidnapping and blackmailing.

“Once charged, they are expected to make their court appearances in Cape Town.”

The men are set to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate's court on Monday.
