Residents in Bishop Lavis had to duck and dive when a man was killed and two injured in a drive-by shooting in Nooitgedacht, on Saturday.
Mense had to run for cover when a white Toyota Corolla with four occupants opened fire on the three men standing outside a house in Bream Way.
The shooting is alleged to be linked to an ongoing turf war between members of the 28s gangs in the area.
One man, 23, was shot and died on the scene, while a 29-year-old man was shot in the foot.
The third man was treated for his wounds by paramedics on the scene.
Both wounded men were taken to hospital.
Resident Delia Adams, 49, of Bishop Lavis said she was tired of the war and innocent people being pulled into these things.
“Die goed wiet wat hulle doen. They know they ruin our children with their drugs and guns, but they don’t care until it hits them. Now everybody must hide in their homes until they decide who can sell drugs where. It’s a war for selling their things, but they are one gang,” she said.
Across the road, paramedics attended to a 49-year-old man who is believed to have died of a heart attack from the shock of the shooting.
However, authorities could not confirm it.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut, explains: “[On Saturday at around 4pm, a 23-year-old man was shot and killed and two others, aged 29 and 59, were wounded in Bream Way, Nooitgedacht, Bishop Lavis.
“The matter is under police investigation and no one has been arrested as yet.”
