A Grassy Park woman is losing sleep after a laundry shop lost her precious duvet which she took for cleaning just before the lockdown was implemented at the end of March.
Shamiela Majiet says she sent her husband to take the duvet to the Laundry Box in Tokai after her child spilt juice on it.
The angry woman says: “I want my duvet which they gave away, my duvet was to be washed, not lost.
“They sent me the wrong one and I sent it back via my husband because I cannot use someone else’s duvet. Last week was very cold and I miss my blanket.”
Shamiela says the owner of the laundry was rude to her and sent her a picture of another duvet, asking if she would accept that one.
KWAAD: Shamiela Majiet's duvet was R700
But Shamiela says: “It had a coffee stain on it and it is not mine. She then sent my R100 back (paid for the cleaning), saying I should have read the terms and conditions.
“I was not there to read that, and they should be taking responsibility for my loss.”
She said her beloved duvet costs R700 and now she will have to change the look of her bedroom because it’s lost.
“It is a quality duvet and the bad treatment I received from the owner is unacceptable. I want my duvet back.”
The owner of The Laundry Box, Mariette Cross, said she will sue Shamiela for defamation.
“I have terms and conditions which clearly state that we cannot be held liable for loss of items," she says.
“They are written on the wall and if my business suffers from this I will take her to court for defamation and loss of income. She must get her story right.”
