The Western Cape Missing Persons Unit is appealing to readers to help them feed 1000 underprivileged children this Christmas.
The WCMPU has fed kids every festive season out of their own pockets since 2017, but this year, due to the pandemic, members are unable to do it alone and are asking for donations.
Candice van der Rheede, who runs WCMPU, says: “We know that 80% of the time, children go missing due to being hungry and they go out to look for food or perpetrators lure our children by offering them luxuries or something to eat. We are trying to stop this.”
Candice says they need donations of “chicken, potatoes butternut/pumpkin, bean salad and we are making Fusion (concentrate) for the juice and trying for party packets with a little toy in it”.
To donate, contact Candice on 082 225 2612.
