Another Kraaifontein business has been hit by skelms, the second in just three days.

On Monday morning, two robbers walked into the local bookie, Sportsbet, situated next to the ANC office in Voortrekker Road, and forced the owner to hand over cash.

The owner did not want to give comment yesterday, but a source at the business, who asked to remain anonymous, explained how the two skelms robbed them and fled on foot.

“The two were on foot, came into the office and demanded money from the owner. They didn’t even have a car,” says the witness.

“They locked up everyone, the security guard and staff, and then walked out, disappearing into the morning rush hour.”

It is not clear how much money the skelms got away with.

Police spokesman Siyabulela Malo says the robbers are being sought.

“This office can confirm that Kraaifontein SAPS is investigating a case of business robbery,” he says.

“At around 9.40 this morning, two unknown armed males entered a sport betting business in Voortrekker Road, Kraaifontein, and forced the employees to hand over cash from the safe and tills.

“They robbed the store of an undisclosed amount in cash and a computer hard drive. No shots were fired and the suspects are still at large.”

Anyone with information regarding this incident are requested to contact the Kraaifontein SAPS on 021 980 5500.

On Friday, four armed men robbed a butchery in Van Riebeeck Street in Kraaifontein, getting away with thousands of rands.
