Levonna Jacobs, 36, was expected to appear at the Cape High Court on Monday but the case was postponed as the lawyers for the matter were not available.
Jacobs is expected back in court on Thursday, Eric Ntabazalila, spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority confirmed.
Prosecutors are set to prove that Jacobs had been living at a house in Seringa Street, Delft-South in 2015 and that she had allegedly planned the murders of her aunty, Virna Jacobs, 47, and Virna’s daughter, Rowena Jacobs, 25.
The women’s bodies were dug up by their own family members in December 2015.
Relatives became suspicious when Jacobs allegedly told them that the mom and daughter had left Cape Town for employment benefits and for an inheritance claim but left important items like their identity books behind.
Rowena has two minor children.
The relatives became even more suspicious of Jacobs when she asked someone to first dig holes in the backyard and then later covered it with cement.
Virna and Rowena were found buried in their clothing. They were strangled to death.
Virna’s sister, Nonita Witbooi, says the family only wishes for justice.
“We the family feels that justice must prevail, whatever must come must come. Virna was her aunty. If there are more investigations that need to happen, then so be it; this is so evil.”
