WOUNDED: Brendan Kill, 8, of Kalksteenfontein.

Cops have arrested a 24-year-old man for shooting an eight-year-old boy.

The suspect, who cannot be named until he appears in court, was arrested hours after the shooting in Hydrangea Street, Kalksteenfontein, on Thursday.

The man is expected to make his first appearance at the Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ Court today on a charge of attempted murder.

Cops say the man was linked to the shooting after the crime scene was processed and “primary residue”, or gun powder, testing was done.

Little Brendan Killa had been playing outside his home when a gunman fired shots down the street.

The little boy was hit in the stomach and rushed to hospital.

His sister, Crystal Vosloo, 26, told the Daily Voice the gunman had shouted the child “was spying” on him just before he opened fire.

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirms the suspect’s arrest.

“It can be confirmed that one male person was arrested and detained at SAPS Bishop Lavis. The crime scene was processed and primary residue testing was done. The suspect will be sent to court (today),” he says.
