A Manenberg mom accused of abandoning her child is back in the mang after she failed to attend court.
Abigail Samuels, 21, was busted by Manenberg detectives after a warrant for arrest was issued by the Athlone Magistrates’ Court where she faces child abandonment charges.
Samuels and her friend Insaaf Blankenberg, 21, were arrested by police after they abandoned their four laaities and went on a jolling spree in April.
The duo left their four boys at the home of a neighbour with no nappies and hardly any food as they went jolling with their berks at clubs in Woodstock for more than a week.
Desperate to find the two moms, the neighbours approached Manenberg police for help and missing persons dockets were opened.
When the duo returned to Manenberg they were arrested.
After their first court appearance, they were released on R1000 bail which was paid by their boyfriends.
According to a source, Samuels failed to attend several court appearances and had allegedly returned to jolling in Woodstock, leaving her child behind.
“She didn’t go to court and came with excuses when she was caught in Kei Sreet.
“She claimed she didn’t have taxi fare but sy is weer met die berk in Woodstock but Insaaf does go to court.”
SAPS’ FC van Wyk, confirms the arrest and says Abigail was busted on Thursday.
“She was arrested on a warrant of arrest for child abandonment with no new charges.
“She is appearing for bail on Tuesday 12 October.
“SAPS is going to oppose bail due to her not having a fixed address and not going to court.”
