VICTIM: Robin Jansen, 29
An innocent man has been shot in the head while on his way to work in Delft.
Robin Jansen, 29, who worked in Ottery was walking alone in Iforas Street on Monday morning when he was attacked.
His sister Maryke Vass, 41, says yesterday instead of celebrating her birthday, she had to arrange her little brother’s funeral.
“This has hit us really hard as the family and the community,” she says.
“He left the house and then a few minutes later our neighbour heard a single gunshot.
“And when she went to check, she found him on the ground on his stomach. He still had his hands in his pockets.”
The heartbroken vrou adds that the bullet went through the back of his head.
“I understand that the WhatsApp groups said that he was robbed of his cellphone but that is not the truth.
“Robin still had all his belongings, he had his phone and bag.
“The person who shot him came up from behind him and shot him in the head from behind.”
She says Robin normally walked with his neighbour.
“But she was struggling to close her gate and he walked on and told her she would have to catch up with him.
“If that gate had closed properly, she probably would be dead too.”
The family tells the Daily Voice that they are confused about the murder.
“He was not a gangster, he loved staying indoors. Everyone loved him, he was a people’s person with a kind heart,” says Maryke.
“We want to know what happened to him because he had no enemies.”
Police did not respond to queries by last night.
