Police are hunting for gunmen who shot and wounded a cop while he and colleagues were patrolling in Hillview.
The officer stationed at Muizenberg SAPS was shot in the arm and shoulder.
Cops say the officer had been on duty Wednesday morning in St Edwards Street in Hillview with two of his colleagues when they were attacked by unknown
suspects, one who opened fire on them just after 6.05am.
The wounded cop was rushed to hospital where he is in a stable condition.
Police say the motive for the attack is still under investigation.
The two officers, who had been with the shot cop, were not wounded during the shooting.
A message went viral on social media after the shooting, asking parents to keep their children safe as cops were apparently pursuing one of the suspects after he was identified.

However, police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel André Traut, says no arrests have been made yet and a search operation has been launched to find the gunmen.
“Our 72-hour activation plan has been implemented to ensure that the suspects responsible for an attack on our members in Hillview, Muizenberg, (yesterday) morning are brought to book,” he says.
“At 6.05am, a police constable stationed at Muizenberg SAPS was shot and wounded by unknown suspects in St Edwards Street Hillview while performing his duties with two colleagues.
“He was admitted to a local medical facility in a stable
condition.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated, and any person with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.”
