The rape of six boys in Langa has left them severely traumatised and residents in shock.
Cops arrested a man for allegedly drugging, raping and burning the boys.
The suspect allegedly burned the victims with a hot iron and battery fluid last Friday and he was arrested two days after the attack.
One of the boys’ thighs has visible triangular iron burn marks.
The 33-year-old suspect was nabbed on Sunday and is still in police custody.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Langa CPF issued a statement on social media, stating that some of the victims are minors.
“A case of rape has been opened at the Langa SAPS on Sunday, 21 February, after six boys were drugged, raped and burned with an iron and battery fluid on Friday, 19 February, allegedly by a 33-year-old man (name withheld) staying in Langa.
“The names of the boys have been withheld to protect their identity, privacy and since some burned are underage.
“The man was arrested and is still in police custody.”
When the Daily Voice contacted the CPF, they refused to comment before speaking to the Langa police.
“We have a meeting with the captain handling the case today at 9am,” they said.
A woman close to the investigation says they are all shocked as it is the first time an incident of this nature has been reported in their area.
“This man is known in the area, this is such a shock to everyone who knows him.
“And the worst part is that he is neighbours with the victims. They know each other and the boys are all traumatised now after this.
“We are still waiting for more details about the incident.”
Police did not respond to queries about the incident.
