A brand new NPO looking to make a difference in the lives of Capetonians is asking for assistance from the community.
The Al-Mohsineen Foundation, a newly registered NPO has been playing their part during the cold, rainy season in aiding people in the most vulnerable communities of Cape Town.
Shanaaz Benjamin, a member of the foundation, says although there’s not always supplies they are forging full steam ahead.
“Sometimes we plan initiatives and we have ideas on how to aid the community without knowing where the supplies will come from. But through the grace of God, we know it will always just show up - and it does,” says Shanaaz.
Co-director Farah Abrahams says charity drives are at the core of the foundation.
“We are currently working on drives for much-needed relief to refugees and the homeless who find themselves particularly vulnerable in Cape Town’s harsh Winter conditions,” she adds.
HELPING: Team member Rezaan Allaway
The last initiative took place last week where the NPO distributed food to the kids of Parkwood from the Jabulani Feeding and Learning Centre, where they fed over 200 children.
CEO of Jabulani Feeding and Learning Centre Yasmine Abrahams says that Parkwood is a community that experiences real poverty and the contribution from Al-Mohsineen makes a huge difference.
“We appreciate everything that Al-Mohsineen contributes to Jabulani. We continue to work as partners and I do not have the words to express how grateful the Parkwood community is to Al-Mohsineen.”
