Shameeg Lucas from Bonteheuwel needs R25 000 to take part in an international football tournament after being selected along with eight members from his U10 team.
While the other team members are all set to go, Shameeg’s mom Janap says her family simply does not have the means to send him.
Shameeg, who attends Protea Primary School in Prunus Street and lives with his family close to the school, plays for Atlantic Nacional FC and is very excited to have been selected to play in the Welsh International Super Cup.
The trip is from 1 to 8 August.
“He has been playing for many years and lives for football. It is all he wants to do and going to this tournament will give him more confidence and hopefully open even more doors for him,” says Janap.
The Welsh International Super Cup gives kids from across the world the chance to play the beautiful game on an international level. The children get to meet new friends and learn different cultures.
More than that, English Premier League scouts also attend the matches, looking out for tomorrow’s stars.
Shameeg has appealed for help to raise the money.
“I want to go and need help to do it. If anyone can help me go do my dream, I will do my best to win every time,” says Shameeg.
