Manenberg residents are appealing for help to find a mom who has been missing without a trace for two weeks saying they fear she may be hurt.
Anton Claasen, 51, says he last saw his girlfriend Desiree Swanepoel, 44, on 29 August.
On that night, the couple were watching TV at a neighbour’s house.
Neighbour Nadia Damons, 53 explains: “Desiree said she was going to check on someone who was sleeping in their house and later Anton went looking for her.”
Anton added that they were arguing over the friend spending the night at their home: “I went to the house to look where she is and then there was a stryery because she wanted this woman to sleep there and I wasn’t happy.
“She started packing her bags and said she is going to her family in Hanover Park and she walked.
“I tried to stop her saying it was dangerous but she did not want to listen to me.”
Anton says the next day he waited for Desiree to come home and her 18-year-old son went to his relatives in Hanover Park but was told she never arrived: “We looked for her but nothing. She also has two sons, 10 and 15, who are in foster care but come to visit her and they are in tears because she has never gone missing.”
It's unclear what she wore at the time of her disappearance.
Manenberg SAPS have opened a missing persons report and asks anyone with information to call them on 021 699 9400.
