DEDICATED: General worker Shaun Neutt

After 34 years of service, Shaun Neutt, a general worker at Heathfield High School has retired.

Neutt, known for his dedication and love for the school, would often take the stage to give a word of advice to learners.

On Tuesday, the staff held a short ceremony to bid him farewell.

Principal Wesley Neumann said although Shaun was older than him, they developed a friendship.

“I worked with him for the past 12 years and we had a cordial warm friendship.

“He is caring and was popular at the school, I have nothing but deep appreciation for his dedication.

“The school allowed him from time to time to speak with the learners encouraging them.”

After 34 years of service, Shaun Neutt, a general worker at Heathfield High School has retired.

Messages poured in for Neutt after Neumann uploaded a notice of his retirement on the school’s Facebook page.

Many expressed admiration for Neutt, while others recalled fond memories.

“Enjoy your retirement 'Shaun' And thank you for cleaning up after my a#@ back in the early ’90s....You and Mr Vos and the others I forget to mention, (sic)” wrote Jiehad Mallum.

Neutt, who is usually a man of many words, was quiet when called for comment.

“I appreciate all that the school has done for me. Time really flies, I cannot believe that it’s been that long.”

He said he plans to enjoy his retirement with his family.
