SEIZED: Mandrax pille
The City’s Metro Police have issued a warning to Cape Flats skollies to be on their best behaviour this festive season as they will be clamping down on gang and drug activities.

On Wednesday, the Metro Police’s Gang and Drugs Task Team (GDTT) descended on Lavender Hill following tip-offs from the community.

They arrested a 26-year-old man for possession of nine 9mm live rounds of ammunition, a firearm magazine, 17 stoppe dagga and six halves of mandrax tablets. The suspect was taken to Steenberg Police Station.

Later, while searching a problem property in Parow, a K9 Unit officer found 10 abandoned mandrax tablets.

And at a search of a property in Wright Street, Woodstock, cops nabbed a man and woman, both 39, for possession of 101 small packets of tik with a street value of R2000 and nearly R250 in cash.

Metro Chief, Wayne le Roux, says this festive season officers will focus on keeping guns and drugs off the streets by targeting gang hotspots.

“These operations are in response to tip-offs by residents who are concerned. This December we will maintain our focus on gang hotspots, drug outlets and people who are using City rental stock for criminals activities. There are more children at home and we will be going after firearms to avoid shootings and possible injuries or fatalities.”
