Women4women are dedicated to empowering women and girls this youth day and will be hosting a morning workshop for the teenage girls of Belhar.
The workshop will be giving them the power to defend themselves during a fun and informative Girl Power Morning.
Candice Fehrsen, Women4women Project and Development Manager says: “At women4women we believe in the power of women to change communities. A community who invests in its daughters will thrive. We know that what is learned in school is not always enough to guarantee a successful future.
Our Programs encompass vital life skills which we believe every young girl needs in order to walk into an empowered future, as young women are empowered so are their families and communities.”
To celebrate Youth Day, Women4women will be hosting a self-defence demonstration, and presenting a life skills program around issues unique to girls, including safety and security, mental and sexual health, contraception and teenage pregnancy.
A dedicated team of volunteers of women will be also be talking from their own experiences, and encouraging the youth into good decisions.
The Girl Power Workshop will be facilitated by Adele Koolen, Tammy Taylor, Mrs South Africa, Mrs Charity and a team of volunteers. Women4women added that Essence will be offering free gifts to the first 100 attendees.
