Three people were shot dead in separate suspected gang-related attacks on the Cape Flats over the weekend.
In Bonteheuwel, Zandre “Dirkie” Davids was shot dead in Bluegum Road.
Captain FC van Wyk says: “The victim and two friends were walking in Bluegum Street when a red Golf passed them and shots were fired from the vehicle.
“The 24-year-old sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and stomach. He died at the scene.
“No arrests were made.”
Social media users reacted with shock, with many saying the victim was innocent.
Nicole Hendricks posted: “He (doesn’t) even belong to a gang (oh my word) really sad… he was such a humble young (man).”
Meanwhile in Athburg Walk, Hanover Park, 56-year-old George Fortuin was shot dead on Saturday morning outside a friend’s home.
George died on the scene after sustaining several gunshot wounds to his upper body.
Van Wyk says: “He was standing outside the house when an unidentified suspect shot at him several times before fleeing on foot.
“The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body and died on the scene.
“A murder case was opened for investigation. No arrests were made.”
In Mitchells Plain yesterday, a suspected Americans gangster was shot dead outside a friend’s home.
Eyewitnesses say the 33-year-old victim was getting out of his vehicle when he and two friends came under attack in Newtown Road, New Woodlands.
“They shot (the victim) and he ran into the house where he died.”
Van Wyk said no arrests have been made yet.
