Juju is adamant that his name won’t appear in the leaked Gupta email saga.
He says he has never had any contact with the Gupta family — no email, phone calls or even an SMS.
“I am a free soul,” he said.
Yesterday at a press briefing, the fiery EFF leader revealed the party would open a criminal case against Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba, whom they allege was at the centre of corruption in the procurement of diesel locomotives by Transnet.
Malema has distributed documents alleging corruption at Transnet, and claimed that the bedrog amounts to as much as R10 billion.
Malema also accused President Jacob Zuma of going to Dubai to visit the mansion allegedly bought for him by the Guptas.
He said the leaked Gupta emails proved that South Africa “has been sold to the highest bidder”.
Malema said he had obtained a copy of the leaked emails and would be compiling a dossier.
“The dossier will be going to Parliament so that we can impeach these ministers, and in particular Zuma. If Parliament refuses to do such, then we would have no choice but to go to court and find recourse against these people implicated in these emails.”
The leaked emails of Gupta associates seemingly indicate how the family benefited from Transnet contracts, received preferential treatment from Home Affairs, were sent Mineral Affairs Minister Mosebenzi Zwane’s CV before he was appointed and that ministers and the South African Revenue Service gave them secret information.
Zuma and the Guptas have denied all the allegations against them.
