The 60-year-old father of an alleged skollie was stabbed and shot dead in his bed on Sunday morning in Lotus River.
Nizaam Daniels was attacked in his Eland Avenue home just before 9am.
According to a neighbour, the killers broke into the house and first stabbed the man before shooting him multiple times in his torso.
He died before emergency services could arrive.
Nizaam was a well-known sewing machine technician in the community and was alone in his house when he was attacked.
A neighbour, who asked not to be identified, says his son, a suspected member of the Six Bobs gang, was recently arrested.
“We heard the shots and looked outside’ it was just before 9am,” says the neighbour.
“We saw two people running down the road, but we did not go out until we heard someone screaming for help.
“Someone had broken into the house and killed him in his sleep.
“He was a good man who had no connection to his son’s nonsense. It is unfair that he was so cruelly killed. He was always helpful and well-respected in our community.”
The area remained volatile afterwards, with groups of men running up and down Eland Avenue shooting at each other.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Andrè Traut, confirms: “Yesterday at 8.40am, a 60-year-old man was shot and killed in Eland Avenue, Lotus River, by unknown suspects who are yet to be arrested.
“The circumstances are being investigated by the Grassy Park police.”
