"I won’t feel better until there is justice for my son," says the mother of a man who was allegedly killed by his friend after an argument.
Storm Prins, 24, from Schaapkraal Road near Philippi was killed two weeks ago when his friend allegedly drove into him with a bakkie after they had a bekgeveg at a braai.
His mom Yvonne Prins says her youngest son was a father of three who died from severe injuries to his head and upper body.
Yvonne says although the friend claims it was an accident, she believes he intentionally tried to hurt her son.
She says on Sunday, 18 April, at about 2.30am, Storm was at his brother Juan’s house where they were all having a braai.
"There was an argument over I don’t know what and my son left, walking to my mom's place around the corner.
“This friend decided to follow and he drove into my son, then went back to tell Juan. He was heard shouting that 'I knocked your brother'.
“Juan went hysterical, he didn't know if he should leave Storm's body, he picked him up and put him in the same bakkie that knocked him and they drove to hospital."
Yvonne says that was the last time the friend was seen.
"No arrests have been made as far as I am aware. This is why I am running around trying to collect footage, clips and getting statements from people who heard him say he knocked my son," says Yvonne.
SAPS’ Captain FC van Wyk confirms that Philippi SAPS are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
“The driver of the vehicle has been traced and a warning statement has been obtained,” he says.
“The matter will be discussed with the Senior Public Prosecutor pending the finalisation of the investigation.”
