Members of the Terrible Josters gang have denied being part of a plot to kill Leon Davids, the alleged hitman of Jerome “Donkie” Booysen at the Western Cape High Court.
This followed an explosive testimony by a 204 State witness who has piemped the skollies for a string of gang hits which date back to 2009.
In his testimony, the self-confessed hitman and drug runner told the court that the hit on Davids was an order from Ernest “Ernie Lastig” Solomons and meant as a revenge attack for the murder of underworld figure, Cyril Beeka, in 2011.
He and suspect Brian Fieghland were allegedly sent to kill Davids in the “ Kerrie Flats” on 6 October 2013, but could not find him.
Fieghland’s lawyer said his client denied being a member of the Josters, was not handed a gun and “did not know how to use a firearm”.
But the witness insisted: “No, he was a Joster and he smokkeled for them. He was with me that day.”
He says three days later, suspects Ismail Ockerts, Ishmaeel Ockerts and Lezay Booysen were sent to kill Davids in Bloemendal Avenue on the instruction of Ernie’s nephew, suspect Horatio “Voudie” Solomons.
He claimed Ishmaeel drove a blue Fiat Uno as the getaway car.
But the defence lawyer said his client has a silver Uno that was purchased on 2 October 2013.
“It was blue, but he could have sprayed it. We often did things like that to change the evidence at court,” replied the witness.
The trial continues on 7 October.
