Two skollies have been taken in for questioning for the murder of Manenberg mom, Abigail Eland.
The 34-year-old single mother was gunned down during a
gunfight between members of the Hard Livings and Clever Kidz gangs while visiting a friend at Gail Court on Sunday afternoon.
Acting station commander, Colonel Sanele Zama, says two members of the Hard Livings gang were nabbed by the Anti-Gang Unit on Tuesday night.
“I can confirm that two
suspects have been taken in for questioning for the murder of a woman in Manenberg on Sunday.
“At this stage we cannot
comment any further on this matter as the investigation is at a sensitive stage.”
Abigail’s death rocked the community and left her 12-year-old son clutching nothing but a pair of sandals to remember his mother.
GUNNED DOWN: Abigail's 12-year-old son
According to witnesses, the two gangs had opened fire on each other on Sunday morning after a brawl at a nightclub on Saturday night.
But the mom’s death left cops and residents confused as
witnesses claimed two gunmen approached the council flat and one of the skollies stuck a gun through the window and fired a shot.
The bullet hit Abigail in the back and she was declared dead in the passage.
Her heartbroken son had spent the day at the beach and returned home to find his
mother dead.
Residents have described Abigail as a friendly and polite person, saying they were shocked that she died in this manner.
At this stage it is not clear if the two skollies will be charged with her murder.
