Corrine Jackson, 20, appeared at the Mitchells Plain Magistrate's Court for her bail application on Friday.
Jackson, of Woodlands, is accused of stabbing her girlfriend, Nadine Esterhuizen, 18, to death on 27 September at her sister’s house in Colorado Park, Mitchell’s Plain.
Police found a cup of blood and the word “sorry” written with strands of hair on the kitchen floor.
Nadine, of Portland, was in matric at Athlone High School.
The couple began dating in December 2016 and Jackson claimed they were engaged.
Previously, Jackson had to be rushed to the district surgeon for wounds to her body after her court appearances, which police say were self-inflicted.
Jackson claimed Nadine stabbed her in the chest near her heart, on the right side of her neck and on her right hand.
She said she had not received medical help for 19 hours at Mitchell’s Plain District Hospital and believed doctors were trying kill her.
“I received no medical treatment for 19 hours and doctors only gave me two-step morphine, which made me sleep," said Corrine.
“I was in so much pain and the blood was running down my chest and I had to close the open wound with my hand which only had a bandage on.
“At one stage I believed the doctors wanted me to die.”
She told the court it was only after her mother visited the hospital, listened to her complaints and peeked into her “empty” file, that doctors assisted her.
But prosecutor Darren Johnson, reading from her medical file in court, argued that doctors had seen to her.
Jackson had been on suicide watch on 28 September, he said.
Proceedings are expected to continue on Tuesday.
