According to provincial police, Tyron Norris appeared in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court on a charge of assault, but the matter was withdrawn and he was released.
According to his family, Norris was supposed to go home to Eindhoven but never arrived.
His family immediately went to the police station to report him missing.
The matter is being investigated by the Western Cape Missing Persons Unit, and CEO Candice van der Rheede says: “We are looking into this matter and again ask people to always directly contact the police or any of our case workers with information.
“He was last seen in the cells and then taken to court.”
Norris is a coloured man with short black hair, is about 1.5 metres tall and weighs 65kg.
He was wearing a black Adidas tracksuit, red All Star takkies and a red backpack.
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, confirms Norris appeared in court last Tuesday.
“The matter against him was withdrawn. After he was released from the court, he never arrived home,” he says.
“The matter is still under investigation.”
