Two alleged drug merts were arrested while making a dagga delivery in Grassy Park on Monday afternoon.
According to a report by Metro Police spokesperson, Zelda Martin, officers received a tip-off about a white Opel Corsa bakkie travelling from Milnerton transporting a large quantity of dagga shortly after 1pm.
“The vehicle was travelling on the M5, direction Grassy Park. Officers spotted the vehicle and pulled it over in Lake Road, Grassy Park,” she said.
Martin says during a search of the vehicle officers found a large black rucksack containing dagga with an estimated street value of R55 000 and R3 659 in cash on the driver’s seat.
The two men, aged 24 and 28, were arrested and detained at Grassy Park Police Station where they were charged with drug dealing.
Martin says the success rate with drug tip-offs is difficult to determine: “Some of the information received have positive returns. There are, however, cases where we find that it was just a neighbourly dispute.”
