A Manenberg man has been brutally stabbed to death in broad daylight in front of his young daughter.
Nizaam Geduld, 36, a father of three, was walking with his 11-year-old daughter in Plate Road just after 10am on Saturday when he was attacked.
A relative, who did not wish to be named for fear of their safety, is devastated at his death.
“Nizaam was walking with his daughter to the shop in the road when two or three guys came up to him.
“They stabbed him in the neck and hit him with something in front of his head.
“During all this his daughter was by his side,” the relative explains.
The little girl has been left devastated and in shock.
“She is extremely traumatised. We don’t know why this happened,” the relative added.
At this stage it is not clear what the motive for the attack was but residents in the area claim a gang war is brewing.
“Manenberg is not safe. These gangs are going to have a full-out war, they don’t care about lockdowns or the Coronavirus.
“All they care about is spilling blood and we all fear for the innocent people, especially children, who will get hurt,” the resident added.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana said a case of murder has been opened, but there's been no arrests: “Please be advised that a case of murder has been opened for investigation after the body of a 36-year-old man was found at the mentioned address with a wound on Saturday morning.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.”
