Members of a security company in Brackenfell became instant heroes after nabbing a crowbar gang on Okavango Drive outside Kraaifontein on Tuesday.
The owner of Titanium Security, Anthony Neuhoff, and his team are to be commended for their quick response to an unusual situation.
He says his team spotted a white Toyota Avanza “driving recklessly” and observed it as it appeared suspicious.
“While our members from the Titanium unit were on patrol in the Morgenster area they spotted a
white Toyota Avanza coming out of Morgenster neighbourhood driving extremely recklessly,” he says.
“Our members immediately noticed something wasn’t right. They turned around to observe the vehicle and its suspicious behaviour.
“The occupants of the Avanza took note of the presence of our Titanium team and proceeded to ignore all traffic signals in an attempt to evade the team.”
According to Neuhoff, his rapid response team was called in and they managed to box in the car.
He says the suspects fled on food, abandoning the vehicle, and his men gave chase.
“On the Okavango Road the suspects gave up and abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. One suspect was caught with the vehicle and stolen items inside. It later came to light that he broke into a house in Morgenster. The suspect was handed over to the police,” Neuhoff says.
Police did not respond to enquiries about the incident.
