A crèche teacher has been accused of assaulting a young child in her care.
Police confirmed that the Table View SAPS are investigating the Wonderland Educare teacher for common assault.
Police said the case was made in March after the woman allegedly grabbed a five-year-old pupil by the hand, injuring her arm.
Her parents found out after the mother took the child by the arm and she complained that it was sore.
"The teacher at the educare centre grabbed her by the arm in March,” says SAPS’ Andre Traut.
“She informed her mother after the mother took her arm and the child reacted.
“The investigating officer is in consultation with the SSP, and the docket is still at court pending a decision. No arrests have been made," said Traut.
Despite video footage, the educare teacher denied manhandling the little girl during a meeting with the educare's management and the child’s parents.
Mom Tinny Motshudi says she has since moved her child to another school.
"I was disappointed at how the management handled the situation. I requested a meeting and the teacher was present.
“She first denied the allegations but when I requested that CCTV footage be reviewed she started crying and apologising.
A hearing was then called and the management told me she pleaded not guilty. She was given a warning and would return to school.
"Like any parent, I want justice for my daughter hence I opened a case," she says.
Beverly Manson, the principal and owner of the educare refused to comment on the matter.
