Alleged child killer Yagyah Robyn will know his fate today when the Western Cape High Court is expected to deliver judgement in his trial.
Robyn is accused of raping and murdering his 14-year-old cousin, Camron Britz, in Ocean View in 2017.
Robyn has pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape and one of murder.
The State is set to prove Robyn lured Camron away from a galley fire in Ocean View on 1 July 2017, under the pretense that her father was calling her.
Camron’s half-naked body was found in a bush the next day by her little brother during a search for her.
She had been strangled to death and river weed was shoved into her mouth.
State prosecutor, Liezel Herbst, said there was more than enough DNA evidence to prove Robyn was Camron’s rapist and killer.
While taking the witness stand in his own defence, Robyn claimed his semen had been planted inside Camron’s vagina and that the investigating officer and a witness had plotted against him.
But Herbst said: “There is no doubt that the deceased was indeed raped, the accused disputing only that he was the perpetrator. The majority of the DNA that was found on the deceased’s body originated from the accused’s semen.
“Since semen cannot be extracted from a person without his knowledge and the accused was unable to recall any incident.”
She added that fresh and healing injuries on Robyn’s body, including bite marks, indicated he had been in a tussle with someone on the same day Camron’s body was found.
Robyn claimed he injured himself during a skateboard incident.
