KRAAIFONTEIN cops have busted a suspected mert with a vrag dwelms, including tik and Mandrax.
Police members attached to the Tygerberg Crime Combatting Unit got the 29-year-old man into custody on Monday.
According to SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, cops approached the man after he exhibited suspicious behaviour while members were on patrol.
He reports: “Police members were busy with patrols in an informal settlement at about 11.30am when they noticed a suspicious man who fled when he saw the patrol vehicle.
“The members gave chase on foot and saw how the suspect dropped an object between rubble.
“They apprehended the man and proceeded to search the area where the unknown object was dropped.
“They recovered a parcel containing 220 sachets of methamphetamine [tik], Mandrax tablets and cash. The 29-year-old man faces charges related to the possession of drugs.”
In a separate incident, a man was vasgevat with an illegal firearm and ammunition in Wallacedene.
Swartbooi says: “Members followed up on information which led them to a premises in Mtyobile Street at around 14:00. They ensued with a search during which they discovered a firearm with ammunition hidden underneath a bed inside the shack. They detained an adult male for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.”
Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges.
