A young man from Mitchells Plain says cops abducted him and his friends and took them to the beach where they moered them dik for no reason.
Charlton Skippers, 19, claims officers from Mitchells Plain SAPS picked him and his friends up in Tafelsig on Sunday morning.
He says they were placed in vans and taken to Muizenberg Beach where they were moered with belts with buckles and chains with locks.
Charlton says he and his five friends were standing on Kammiesberg Street around 10.30am when cops stopped to search them.
His mom Millicent Skippers says when she got home from relatives, she found out that police had arrested them.
“I was told that he was arrested and went to the police station and found that they were not there,” she said.
“The officers at the station were not helpful even though we had the van number, they said they didn’t know anything about the arrest.”
Millicent says when she got home she was relieved to find her son there.
“He was at home already and he said he had been beaten by the police,” she says.
“Charlton told me the police just stopped and searched them, got nothing on them and started hitting them and threw them in the six vans.
“His ear bled inside and he is still complaining about it.”
The mom says detectives have not yet visited her home to take statements.
“It’s like they are not taking this seriously. It’s been a week. We have the case number but the case is not moving forward.”
SAPS’ Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana says the assault case was opened and referred to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate.
