A Brackenfell resident and a police woman were injured after coming under fire in Kraaifontein.
The female cop lost control and crashed into Joshua Jacobs, 25.
Witness John Adams of Park Lane in Scottsdene says Joshua was pinned underneath the police van.
“We were applauding when the rescue people got Joshua from out under the van,” he says.
“There was shooting in Park Lane and they shot at the police, and the female officer was wounded and lost control of the van,” he says.
“She drove into Joshua’s driveway and hit him and he was flung hard against the wall, the plaster even came loose and fell on him.
“The garage wall was also damaged. It looks like the police woman was shot in the chest because she held her hand so above her heart. I thinks she was saved thanks to her bulletproof vest.
“My dog Lappies was also hit by a bullet, his back paw is injured and he came to hide under the bed. Shame.”
Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut says the incident is under investigation.
“Members in a police vehicle who responded to a shooting incident this morning in Scottsdene came under attack and in the process of leaving the area, a man sitting in a yard was knocked over,” said Traut.
