A young dad from Eureka Estate says his life is in danger after an officer from the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) told liegstories to gangsters, claiming he is a police informant.
Cisco van Rensburg, 21, says he fears for his life after he came under attack by gangsters on Sunday night after a cop shouted in the road that he had given them information that led to the arrest of gang members.
“The guy’s name is Constable Fabian Daniels from AGU. He used to be here in Ravensmead, but then he went to AGU. He always harasses me when people complain about the police and last year I complained to the AGU.”
Van Rensburg says he sought help from slain detective Lieutenant-Colonel Charl Kinnear who agreed to help him before he was killed last year.
“Kinnear warned him to stop doing this nonsense because I am not an informant, but on Sunday he went too far.
“They were searching some house on 40th Street and I was at my friend’s house.
“I don’t know who they arrested or what for, but he sommer started shouting: ‘Dankie vir die info’. Then he got out of the car and klapped me.”
The angry dad says when cops left, skollies threatened him.
“They now think I am piemping gangs and these people are going to kill me because he talks such nonsense.
“I don’t know what his problem is, but I went to Ravensmead SAPS and reported him. He is putting my life in danger. They told me he will face criminal and internal charges.”
SAPS’ FC van Wyk confirms the case and says: “No arrest as yet and investigation continues. Our members are bound by a code of conduct.
“The alleged behaviour by our members will not be tolerated and we will take appropriate action if the allegations can be substantiated.”
