A 52-year-old man has been shot and killed on the same spot as a dad who was wiped out five days ago in Bonteheuwel.
Police were called to Dissell Road and Camelia Street on Tuesday after 3.20pm where they found the body of Mustapha January.
It is believed an unknown gunman walked up to Mustapha and shot him.
This was the same spot where Rushin Arendse, 36, was gunned down on Friday, 16 February while waiting for his girlfriend in Dissell Road.
On Tuesday, just as school children made their way home, gunshots rang out.
A community member, who asked not to be identified, explains: “We just heard a man walked up to him and shot him. We cannot say if he was a gangster or not.”
Ward councillor, Angus McKenzie, says shootings have increased since last year, and police and Law Enforcement visibility has now been increased in the area.
“It is quite clear that these two murders are connected,” he says.
“Whether this was a case of mistaken identity, we can confirm that these shootings are gang-
related and the fight is over turf.
“We have been closing and raiding a lot of drug houses and the gangsters are feeling the heat for the need to continue trading.”
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel André Traut, says there have been no arrests.
“The circumstances are being investigated.”
Last month dads Dayyaan Andrews, 49, and Jonathan Bryan, 22, from Mitchells Plain were killed while collecting their colleague for work in Vlamboom Street.
