The Western Cape High Court was evacuated yesterday after a bomb scare.
Yesterday, the police’s K9 Unit and Explosives Unit were called to the court in Keerom Street in the CBD at about 9.45am.
All roads around court were blocked off as officials swept the premises.
Stacey September, who attended a matter at court, says they were told to evacuate.
“I didn’t know what was going on, a security guard just asked us to please leave the premises because of this scare. I’m just so confused,” she said.
Police did not reveal the nature of the threat, but said no bombs were found.
Captain FC Van Wyk said the matter was being investigated.
“No explosive devices were found. The bomb disposal unit was on the scene and the building was declared as safe. A bomb threat case has been opened for investigation, no arrest as yet.”
Three weeks ago, there was panic at Parliament when a suspicious travel bag was left unattended.
It was found the bag was filled with clothing.
