The body of an unknown man was found dumped in Nyanga yesterday morning.
Community Police Forum chairperson Martin Makhasi says: “This is becoming worrisome because this is not the first body to be found dumped in Nyanga.
“People seem to get killed in other areas and dumped here and we do not know whether this is because some people are not happy with the fact that this township is no longer considered to be the murder capital of South Africa,” he says.
Makhasi appealed to people, who might have seen the body being dumped, to come forward: “We appeal to anyone who might know something to please come forward with any information that can assist the police in arresting the killers and help identify who the person is and where he comes from,” he pleaded.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana says a case of murder has been opened for investigation after the body of an unknown man was found dumped on the corner of Zwelitsha Drive and 3rd Avenue in Nyanga: “The deceased had face injuries and seemed to be assaulted with a blunt object and dumped in the area.
“He was wearing a black hoodie top and reddish tracksuit pants.”
Police request anyone with information about the incident and suspects to contact Nyanga SAPS on 021 380 3304/3320 or 082 469 2470 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
