Just after 8am, men ready to go out on a boat at an area called Die Gat came across an object washing out below the rocks at Monwabisi Beach at high tide.
Unaware of what it was, the men on the rocks made a video, discovering that it was a body.
They initially thought it was the naked body of a female as there was seaweed stuck to the head.
The person’s hands were also tied behind their back.
The body appeared to be very pale and bleached, meaning it could have been lying in the water for some time, a source says.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, confirmed a body had washed up and a case of murder was being investigated.
“Harare police are investigating a case of murder after the body of a 24-year-old man was found at Monwabisi beach on Saturday morning. Circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation,” Rwexana said.
She has also confirmed the arrest of three men believed to be involved in the murder but didn’t divulge any details.
“Three suspects, aged 30, 34 and 37, were arrested. The investigation is ongoing,” Rwexana added.
