According to a source, four officers from Grassy Park Police Station were surrounded by women wearing gowns and swirlkouse who called on skollies to moer the cops so the mert could escape.
“The officers were skutting mense uit in Edna Court and came across this one drug mert who had 114 units of ungah in a packet and money on him,” says the source.
“But as they were cuffing him, they came under attack by aunties in gowns and swirlkouse who hurled abuse at them.
“Daai vroumense caused the whole thing, they are worse than the gangsters.”
The source says the group grew larger as children also gathered around the police and the women called for gangsters to help.
“The mert started performing and the cops had to use excessive force to get him in the car.
“They did not even put the cuffs on right the way, that guy was performing as he called for the community to help him and they did.
“They threw bricks at the car and got him out. One cop had a cut on his hand from the cuffs and the other one’s hand was swollen after he was hit with a baksteen.”
Police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut confirms the incident and says: “Community members attacked the police by throwing them with stones.
“Two of our members sustained minor injuries and a police vehicle was damaged.
“The arrested suspect managed to escape during the attack and he is being sought.”
