MCDONALD’S South Africa said they were of an attempted armed robbery which took place at the weekend in Durbanville at one of their outlets while a father and his son were in the drive-through.
The wife of the victim took to social media following the incident to warn other patrons after a gunman approached her husband and her son while they were at the drive-through at the McDonald’s in Durbanville on Saturday, June 28 2025.
“My husband and boy drove through the “drive-through” to place their order.
“While my husband was busy placing their order, a man came up to him, obviously his window was open, because he was busy ordering.
“He thought it was a homeless man approaching him.
“This was not the case at all.
“Everything happened very fast, one moment, the “homeless man” was standing at the window, the next moment, he hit my husband with a gun (revolver) in his face.
“He says everything happened so fast, he was not expecting the gun at all.
“He wanted to get the man away from him and tried to drive but with that another man grabbed him by the arm and he was hit again.
“Shots were fired. No idea how many.
“He can’t remember if he spoke, Afrikaans or English but that he wanted his wallet and his cellphone.
“He gave it and just told our boy to stay flat in the back of the car.”
