Mickael Davis has been selected to compete in the Arnold Classic 2018 taking place this coming weekend, but he may not be able to make it unless he gets a sponsor.
The 30-year-old from Rocklands landed second place in the Shameen Classics 2018 Men’s Muscle Physique, and as a result qualified for the prestigious Arnold Classic.
Mickael, who works as a full-time Distribution Account Manager, says he is excited to be competing in the biggest International Federation of Bodybuilders (IFBB) competition in the world, taking place from 18-20 May at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.
“Although it’s short notice, I will make every effort to raise funds for this trip because I worked hard for this dream,” says the father of two.
Mickael also featured in the April edition of the Men’s Muscle Evolution and the SA Fitness magazines.
“It was an awesome feeling seeing myself in these magazines. These are the things we dream of as little boys growing up,” he says proudly.
“I’m not sponsored by any supplement companies and don’t have any trainer at all.”
Mickael weighs 75kg and trains two hours a day, five days a week. He is also a qualified personal trainer and sports nutritionist, and basically helps himself.
“I operate after work and head straight to gym or where a client is located,” he explains.
And he wants other mense on the Flats to start exploring a career in health and fitness.
“I want to inspire youngsters to get a feel for the sport as there is a lot of potential in gym. To compete in the Arnold Classic Africa is a dream come true for all bodybuilding athletes from around the world as this is one of the biggest IFBB competitions,” he says.
He will compete in the Men’s Muscle Physique category and the trip costs R9 000, including flights and accommodation.
