The 26-year-old driver and his girlfriend went to grab a chow at the KFC at Avonwood Square at about 3am on Saturday when the hijackers approached his Chana truck.
The gang left the man behind and drove off with his girlfriend.
The woman was gang-raped by two of the men and also viciously assaulted.
They then dumped the battered woman, thinking she was dead.
But she had survived the horror attack and after some time managed to get assistance.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel André Traut confirms the attack.
“This office can confirm that the circumstances surrounding a hijacking and rape are being investigated following an incident yesterday at around 3.20am in Avonwood Square, Elsies River,” he says.
“The victim, a 26-year-old man, was hijacked by four male suspects. They drove off with his Chana LDV with his girlfriend still inside.
“She was then raped by two of the suspects. No one has been arrested as yet.”
Community Police Forum of Elsies River executive member Imraahn Mukaddam says he had heard about the incident and is worried by what is happening in the community.

“It seems to just be getting worse. We are not safe and our children are not safe. Something has to be done about the crime taking over our communities and we need to do it soon, before another life is lost,” Mukaddam says.
