It has been nearly a month and the family of Deon Pearce, 33, from New Woodlands in Mitchells Plain are still looking for him.
The mentally challenged man was last seen on 14 March walking along Baden Powell Drive where he was photographed by a family friend being loaded into a police van.
But his family has been unable to find him as cops could not confirm from what station the members were who picked him up.
He was last seen wearing a pink shirt and black tracksuit pants.
He has green eyes, a full beard and is 1.8 metres tall.
A community worker assisting the family, Redaa Ameeroedien, says the family is very worried over Deon’s safety and has not stopped searching for him.
They have looked at all police stations in Mitchells Plain and surrounding areas, as well as hospitals and morgues.
“The family has become frustrated,” says Redaa.
“After the last article in the Daily Voice, Deon was sited in Rocklands but has not been seen since. The family doesn’t know which way to go, but they are getting support from the Western Cape Missing Persons Unit and myself and we have not stopped searching.
“We are trying to keep the faith with the family but fears for the worse have been brought up,” Redaa says.
The family has asked people to call Redaa if they see Deon, but warned that mense should not approach him as he does not like being touched.
Police did not respond to queries about the matter.
If you know Deon’s whereabouts, please call Redaa on 065 332 5296.
